An amazing weekend at Taupo with the Sabre team. I was hoping my car would be fast this weekend and it was thanks to the work of the team between rounds. I was able to draft down the straight which I haven’t been able to do in past rounds and the car was screaming at the braking point of the chase and I was having fun passing cars during practice on Friday.
I qualified in P6 but it was a really messy session with a red flag and not many clear laps. After qualifying my goal was to get a podium over the weekend and I am pleased to say I got a 5th , a 2nd and my first win of the championship which put me second overall for the weekend behind Michael.
The racing was very exciting and battling with Michael ,Brook & Bramwell in the final laps of the last race was an amazing feeling. I have to say a special thank you to my engineer Johnathan as I couldn’t have done it without him. Thank you to all the competitors who came to congratulate me it made me very happy.
I am now looking forward to racing at my home track at Pukekohe on the 12th/13th December and I am confident we can have another good result. I have moved from 7th in the championship up to 4th with six rounds to go .
Hard luck to Brook on being excluded from Race 2 and Amy Smith on her engine problem, we hope you are back for Pukekohe Round.
Big thanks to the Speedsport Scholarship Trust, Sabre Race Motorsport, Dennis Martin, Grant MacDonald, Cyrus International Cargo, Chicane Racewear, Arai Helmets, Quality Tyres, Sierra Motor Group, Race Brakes, Alistair at Formula Fit, Paul Manuel and Nick Cassidy for their support.
